Zoom presentation - Art and traditional quilts come out to play. Let me show you how I change the seasons in my Southern California home, through my quilts. A lowly mailing envelope might become your new favorite “fabric”. In this presentation you’ll learn how the durable material known as Tyvek can be painted and manipulated in a variety of ways to add dimensional embellishments to your art quilts. Painted Tyvek is one of the techniques I demonstrated on Quilting Arts TV and represents “up-cycling” at its best. This inspirational and informative presentation provides so much detail, it’s nearly a workshop.
You know coloring is great fun! Did you know you can color your quilts? Of all the supplies available for art quilts by far my favorite and the easiest to use is pencil colors. More precise than crayons, easier to control and blend than inks and paints. Add that they are inexpensive and with the application of “magic elixir” permanent on fabric, what’s not to love! Come have the fun of reacquainting yourself with the joys of simple coloring. If you have learned to “color INSIDE the lines” you already have all the skills you need to launch right in and start creating! Kit contains everything needed for the class. Students choose from approx. 12 designs pre-printed on cotton fabric that can be finished at home as a 12” X 12” mini quilt.
